Hi, I’m Tanika! I provide therapy for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and difficulty adjusting to life’s demands. I specialize in supporting individuals impacted by stress related to school, work, and major transitions. With a background as a teacher and school counselor, I bring a thoughtful, practical, and developmentally informed approach to therapy.

Why You Might Feel So Overwhelmed, And What You Can Do About It

Lately, many of the people I see in my practice describe feeling constantly on edge, even when nothing major has “gone wrong.” This sense of overwhelm isn’t just in your head. It’s a real response to how fast life moves today. Between nonstop notifications, work and school pressures, social expectations, and life transitions, it’s no wonder that anxiety and depression are showing up more frequently in children, adolescents, and adults alike.

One of the biggest trends in mental health right now is what experts are calling emotional overload or digital overstimulation — a kind of chronic stress response to the pace and volume of modern life. Our brains weren’t built for constant input, and when we never get a break, it’s common to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and mentally stuck.

This affects people of all ages. Students juggling academic pressure, parents balancing work and family, and adults navigating major life changes often end up carrying more than they feel equipped to manage. Without intentional support, these stressors can contribute to increased anxiety, low mood, difficulty concentrating, and a sense of being “too much for too long.”

As a therapist with a background in teaching and school counseling, I take a thoughtful, developmentally informed approach to helping people make sense of these experiences. I work collaboratively with children, adolescents, and adults to build practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, and the demands life throws at us. Whether it’s learning how to recognize emotional triggers, strengthen coping skills, or adjust to a major transition, therapy provides a space where you can slow down and make sense of it all.

You don’t have to navigate these challenges alone. If anxiety, depression, or adjustment difficulties are interfering with your daily life or your relationships, reaching out for support can be a meaningful first step. Booking a therapy session can help you move from merely surviving to feeling more grounded, capable, and understood.
